Together Living in Syn

’Tis so much harder to belch a sonnet
if one hath dined there and got the t-shirt,
worn well with love’s canteen medals on it,
yet still with plentiful room for dessert.

Long may that hunger betwixt us persist
on Slimming World journeys—our cursed syns
knocked up by Big Macs, or by the odd tryst
with Wispas in secret. Lo! It begins:

Let us unravel and destroy our scales,
casting aside calorie-counted ways.
If temptation deems it, let us be whales
and gorge on treats for the rest of our days.

This love is endless, methinks thou know that.
Let’s be happy and enjoy getting fat.
