Severed

At a place when there is nowhere left to go.

You have been cruelly split.

Half a child
left to die
to power an infernal machine.

Schools filled with ghosts
sitting in class
        dismembered

So take the hidden drugs
        break the hold
and reach up
to where the pain lives.

It was always your fault
        and you asked for this
delivering leaflets
        battling secret shadows.

They cut you
        in half
but the parts grow strong
        and the only fear
is the suffering
of reunification.

The dark eye
of the severed moon
shows only a fraction of the light.

To know you
        is to love you.

He walked all night from wayward Dartford and, seeing the lights of the tower of Margate, headed south and pitched his tent for two.
