Paperback Friends

A poem about loneliness and sorrow. Knowing that no matter what, when human friends let you down you can always rely on books.

In time I know my heart will mend
My sorrows will disappear
All I have to do is what I used to do
And place my faith in my paperback friends
Ink, blood and tears
Cleanse me of my fears
Although it is all imaginary
In these written worlds of mine
Solace I soon find
Head in the clouds
There is where I belong
Although it all looks different now
I know that my paperback friends
Will never do me wrong
