I’m Drowning

How mental illness can lead you to believe the worst things.

My thoughts are telling me
‘I’m drowning’
My mind is a heavy weight
slowly filling up like water
at surface level
To rid the tide,
I pray and beg for a lighter drizzle.
The rain pours outside my window,
The condensation creeps in as
I suffer with a foggy state of mind.
Memories are muffled,
Memories are sunken,
Memories like wet pages,
as my tears bleed
upon the pen ink.

‘I’m drowning’

the water cascades
across my senses.
