A Poem for Winter
A peek through the window at winter – reflection, remembering and taking comfort in sadness.
Quiet as snow
falling like a catastrophe
snow globe strobe disco
dances in the light like moths
vulnerable as dropped grapes
at the tread of a heavy boot
in the limping yellow firelight
she retraces other winters
old grief—her unseen talisman
unfolding like a kept receipt
long faded to white

Beautiful, captivating and emotive.
A great poem. I particularly like the rhyme of ‘grief’ and ‘receipt’ – very effective.
