On the 99th anniversary of the death of Andrew Carnegie, artist Sarah Chipperfield offers a cartoon on the man who built Ramsgate Library.
Industrialist, writer and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie became one of the richest men in the world, and then gave 90% of his fortune away. He was born on November 25th 1835 and died on August 11th 1919. He was responsible for the construction of over 2500 libraries, including Ramsgate Library in Thanet in 1904 which he paid for and had built.
